Miri Bar-Ziv Levy

Miri Bar-Ziv Levy is a PhD student at the Hebrew University in the department of Hebrew and Jewish Languages. Under the supervision of Prof. Yael Reshef, she is writing a dissertation on the representation of Hebrew speech in the Israeli cinema in 1932-1988 in comparison to Hebrew literature. She is a member of the Research Group on the Emergence of Modern Hebrew at the Mandel Scholion Interdisciplinary Research Center in the Humanities and Jewish Studies. In addition, in a joint project with Dr. Ivy Sichel of the department of linguistics, they examine the contribution of first Aliya women to the revernacularization of Hebrew. Bar-Ziv Levy is also an experienced teacher of Hebrew as a second language, and was the director of the department of Hebrew at Young Judaea, where she developed Hebrew language curricula.
