In partnership with Beit Avi Chai (Jerusalem, Israel)
The Song of the Sea (Exodus, 15), which exalts the most impressive wonder of the Hebrew Bible, received a lot of legendary embellishments in the Rabbinic narrative tradition (midrash aggadah) in the spirit of "creative philology".
Prof. Avigdor Shinan discusses several central motifs of the Midrash: Moses' struggle with the Sea; Pharaoh's salvation from drowning, and the story of Joseph's bones accompanying the Sons of Israel on their journey from Egypt to Canaan.
The event is in Hebrew.
