Eugene Steiner

Orientalist, Art Historian

Eugene Steiner is a specialist in Japanese art, Candidate of Philology (1985, Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences), Doctor of Arts (2002, Institute of Culturology). Worked in the Pushkin Museum, in the «Art» publishing house, since the late 1980s he teaches and is engaged in research work at the universities of Moscow, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Yokohama, New York, Manchester and London. Since 2012 — Professor of the School of Oriental Studies of the Higher School of Economics, where he teaches courses in Japanese art, literature and religion.
